Overview

Autism Diagnosis & Assessment in Houston

The Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism at Texas Children's Hospital is where families across Houston bring children who need a specialist's eye on complex developmental questions. Housed on the Texas Medical Center campus, the program serves kids with autism, Down syndrome, spina bifida, and a broad range of other developmental conditions. Leadership is provided by a physician who holds a faculty appointment at Baylor College of Medicine and has shaped specialty-care programs here for more than two decades.

Best for

Children whose developmental or behavioral needs call for evaluation or ongoing follow-up at an academic children's hospital with subspecialty depth.

Their approach

Care is built around coordination: multiple specialists work together rather than in silos, matching the complexity of each child's picture. That model extends to long-running programs — the Complex Care Clinic, the largest of its kind in southeast Texas, grew out of this team's work.

What to expect

Scheduling runs through the Texas Children's central line (832-822-3400); referral-based intake and wait times typical of a high-volume hospital subspecialty clinic are part of the process.
