Paying for children's therapy in Dallas
In Texas, both Texas Medicaid and most commercial health plans cover ABA, speech, and occupational therapy for children with a qualifying diagnosis. Texas's autism insurance mandate applies to state-regulated plans, and Texas Medicaid (including STAR and STAR Kids) covers medically necessary therapy for eligible children. 52 of the 293 Dallas providers here accept Texas Medicaid. One helpful difference: while ABA generally requires a confirmed autism diagnosis first, speech and occupational therapy can often begin for a specific delay without one. You can often start before a diagnosis
If your child is under three, Texas Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) can evaluate and begin support without a diagnosis or a doctor's referral, at little or no cost. For age three and up, your school district, such as Dallas ISD, Plano ISD, or Richardson ISD, can evaluate your child for school-based services. You do not have to wait on a single waitlist to get moving.
